Papua New Guinea is known for coffee that, while sturdy and pronounced, has a subtle primal earthy quality. J'nae seems to jazz what Papua New Guinea is to coffee, a beautiful and talented voice with qualities of Jacqui Dankworth and Irene Atman, if a bit down register, but with a sultry primal earthy quality maybe seen in someone like Rebecca Lynn Howard from another genre. Apparently raised in Texas, educated in California, J'nae now performs largely in Nashville and California. She had a lot of musical training from her youth, and this musical confidence has given her the liberty to explore a bit of the boundaries of the jazz genre.
