HINKEL is the solo project of Volker Hinkel, co-author/guitarist/producer of Fools Garden.
Founded for the first time in 1993 for the production of the album "In The Wake Of Thunder" (1994), this project had a brand new start in 2002 when Dirk Blümlein (bass) and Claus Müller (drums) joined the line-up.
The 3-piece band worked on a new album, "Not A Life-Saving Device", which was released in August 2005.
In 2006 Hinkel comes to MySpace and starts a proficuous web marketing campaign.
Hinkel is currently working on a new upcoming EP, including three brand new songs and a cover of "Heaven And Hell" by John Entwistle.
In the meanwhile the song "House Of Love", taken from "Not A Life-Saving Device" has been chosen to be included in the soundtrack upcoming US movie "The Other Side Of The Tracks", directed by A.D. Calvo and with the TV series 'Roswell' star Brendan Fehr in the leading role.
While "Shine" and "Run" from the same album are included in the digital split "The Big Eye", realized together with The Mirrors, with cover art by Andy from Bluvertigo, which has been released in Italy under the indie label Echophonic in March 2008 and is available worldwide on iTunes.
Volker Hinkel was born on June 21st 1965 in Calw and he began with music on 1978, and he dedicated to guitar and piano. Before 1991, when he founded Fool's Garden with Peter Freudenthaler, he played in Central Heads, Passion and Magazine. He's moreover a big admirer of The Beatles and Oasis.
During 1993 Volker also realized his first solo project. The album, titled "In The Wake of Thunder", has been published in 1994. Also Ralf Wochele and Thomas Mangold, old members of Fool's Garden, participated to it.
In 2000 Volker produced the song "Under My Wing" by Brainstorm, the album "Hope Garden" by Cae Gauntt and "Sister Moon" by Mira Kay. He also appeared as guest star on the albums "Sensor" (2003) and "Relocated" (2006) by Camouflage.
He produced the single of Yannic Günther "Nowhere", and is collaborating to the new album of Daniele Groff (Italy).
Volker currently released his second solo album, titled "Not A Life-Saving Device".
