Goodnight Providence began in the winter of 2005 with Danny Morris - guitar, vox, Jon Harris - lead guitar, Josh Gaines - bass, and Ben Cantrell - drums. Original material like Glory Is Listening and Tomorrow were written by Josh and Danny. Josh left the band in May/June of 05 and was offered to play a farewell show but refused because it would just make him want to stay and he needed to just get up and go. Palmer Ray filled in for Josh for a show and was then let go. Forrest Hamrick was then picked up to play bass full time. After a couple of months of new recordings and tracks, Ben Cantrell left the band. He played the remaining shows. Josiah Goering, at the time part of a hardcore band called For A Good Cause, took the place of Cantrell. Cantrell although not a full time member would play keyboards occasionally at shows for GNP. As of March 07 GNP tied the loose ends and put an end to their chapter in the music scene. They released their latest recordings on their last show.
