Gentle Electric Kids come from Bandung, Indonesia, somewhere in south-east Asia. It was all started in 2003. Three guys, Tole (Guitar and voc), Sonny (Bass), and Dicky (Drum) followed their dreams to become rockstars and led to formation of "TUNE SQUAD". The name was actually taken from the basketball team name on SpaceJam movie. They only played a melodic song like MxPx, and Blink 182. Finally at 2004 they invite Ubhet (Lead Vocal) and Imunx (Lead Guitar) to join with the band. After that,Tune Squad name changed to ."GENTLE ELECTRIC KIDS", There was no special reason for taking this name, just to make a new fresh image on their band. In the beginning G.E.K played covers from some of their favourite band including Not Available, NOFX, Lagwagon, Baseball Annie, No Use For A Name, before they began write their own song. They combine a melodic punk with a 80s style because they influenced by The Cure, Morrisey, etc. With their own song,they began playing,record their first demo, and play at high school/college shows as many as possible. They single featured on compilation released by local indie record company.
