Exalted Dirt is a pseudonym for Corey Finney, a guitarist, vocalist, and music programmer who lives in Ohio. Friends who have heard early Exalted Dirt recordings have compared his style to Iron Maiden and Metallica. The name Exalted Dirt has a dual meaning for Corey. Because the book of Genesis mentions that YHWH formed man from the dust of the earth, this is the first and most literal meaning. On the other hand, because of inherited sin from the first Adam, man's body is forced to return to the dust whence it came, but the inheritance of eternal life from the Lord Jesus Christ has exalted those who choose to be "born again" to a position of eternal royalty. Exalted Dirt's start into audio recording and composing was around 1997. His first demo was self-titled, and it contained four or five tracks which he only allowed a select group of individuals to hear. A little later he recorded a full-length album called CONTEMPLATIONS, which received the same treatment. Both of these recordings will probably never be heard, since Corey considers them to be far too sloppy. Sometime around 1999 he discovered music programming with software for the Sony Playstation called MTV Music Generator. Using this tool he created his third album, called FALL. This was Corey's first CD release in 2002. He made several copies of this album, but was still unsatisfied with its overall quality to try to distribute it widely. A little while after FALL was finished, he began work on CALLING DOWN FIRE. Personal issues kept him from working on the project for several years, and it was finally completed, though prematurely, due to a computer crash in 2010. This was Exalted Dirt's first public release. After the release of CALLING DOWN FIRE, Corey decided to revisit his previously unreleased FALL. After a little bit of digital audio editing, he finally released FALL (2011 edition), which contained most of the original tracks from the 2002 compilation.
