Formed in 2000, Echo Base Soundsystem was an instrumental quintet from Austin, Texas, comprised of Arturo Eduardo Torres (guitars/balafon/organ), Andrew Gerfers (drums/percussion/samples/keys), Nikos Trevino (bass/percussion), Phil Hernandez (melodica/programming/keys), and Pete Neonakis (keys/programming/samples). The group's sound evolved from the more traditional dub reggae rhythyms and musical transitions towards a more open-eyed view of the genre. At the same time, they maintain the fundamental effects-laden aesthetics of "the dub", truly showing the group's amazing musical talent as quintessential collaborators. Their self-titled debut album, released on Seedknowledge records and distributed in Europe by Glitterhouse, turned international heads with their electro-dub soundscapes. The sophomore Echo Base Soundsystem album was to be titled "Psalms of the Forgotten."
