A young electronica duo from Lansing, New York (near, incidentally, Trumansburg, where synthesizer innovator Robert Moog lived), Do Kashiteru has been working to refine its sound for the past year and a half. In the process, they have dabbled in everything from synthpop to trance, but have always returned to the sound with which they are most comfortable: light, melodic music that is as rewarding at first listen as it is upon repeated listening, along the lines of The Postal Service, Aphex Twin, and Boards of Canada. Like in any other journey, though, they have picked up some souvenirs along the way, as can be heard as much in their hummable melodies as in their tastefully placed glitching; evidence of their myriad musical tastes comes forth in unusual and aesthetically pleasing instrumentation and classically informed melodic and harmonic structure. Do Kashiteru is no stranger to combining unusually diverse experiences to make innovative results: Sander was originally a metal and jazz bassist, while Jason is a classically-trained violinist. The two have played together before in a jam band and a progressive metal project, becoming accustomed to each other's styles even before discovering their shared interest in electronic music. The result, though, is far beyond analytical terms and music theory; in the end, Do Kashiteru is all about making music that is accessible yet innovative, traditional yet revolutionary. Read more on Last.fm.
