Daniel Denis is a Belgian drummer and composer, best known as the founder of Univers Zero, associated with progressive rock, avant-garde, and chamber rock. His career began in 1971 with the formation of ARKHAM, which supported Magma in live performances. In 1973, the core lineup of Univers Zero formed, with Denis as the primary composer; the band released several albums during the late 1970s and early 1980s. In 1979, co-founder Roger Trigaux left to form Present, and Denis has performed with both bands. In the mid-1980s, he also collaborated with Art Zoyd. After Univers Zero disbanded in 1987, Denis released two solo albums: Sirius and the Ghosts (1991), primarily featuring electric keyboards and synthesizers, and Les Eaux Troubles (1993), which included contributions from several musicians associated with Univers Zero. Denis later reconvened Univers Zero after a 13-year hiatus, and the band has since released three additional albums. His solo work and continued activity with Univers Zero reflect his ongoing contributions to complex, chamber-influenced rock. Read more on Last.fm.
