Crooked Hook, a Stoner/Garage/Psyche power trio from New Haven CT, is Joey Maddalena (guitar and vocals), Jason Bates (drums), and Rick Omonte (bass guitar). Comparisons of the the band can be linked to many different time periods of heavy music and the blues. The most prominent artists that ring out in the bands fuzz-driven tone are late sixties/early seventies hard rock bands such as Blue Cheer, Cactus, Muddy Waters, High Tide, and of corse Sabbath. The band also takes up modern influences from bands such as Goatsnake, Sleep, and Dead Meadow. Their self-titled debut 5 track CD EP was recorded, in 2005 at Tone Float Studios by Mitch Rackin, live to 2 inch tape, only over-dubbing vocals, to preserve the intensity and rawness that define the band's crushing live performances. It was released the same year on Safety Meeting Records.
