Singer and actor Carol Hitchcock (born Dec. 10, 1959, Melbourne, Australia) made her brief appearance in pop music in 1987 with "Get Ready,” an aggressive dance-pop cover of the Smokey Robinson-penned tune that had been a U.S. top 40 hit for both The Temptations and, more notably, Rare Earth. It was produced by the popular U.K. dance-pop production team of Stock Aitken & Waterman in their signature sound of the era. The single's b-side was the ballad "More Than Words Can say," which was also recorded by SAW-produced artists Mel and Kim and Hazell Dean. “Get Ready” peaked at a respectable #18 in her native Australia but struggled elsewhere; it reached #56 in the U.K. and #47 in New Zealand while failing to chart in the U.S. The singer, who appeared bald in the video for the tune, did not follow up the lone single with any other releases. <a href="https://www.last.fm/music/Carol+Hitchcock">Read more on Last.fm</a>.
