Brake Storm, a rock trash metal group influenced by Metallica, Slayer, and Megadeth, was established in late summer of 2002 in Charlesbourg, Quebec, Canada. The original members were Maxime Gélinas on lead & rhythm guitar and Alexandre Guindon on bass, with Gabriel Morin briefly serving as the first drummer. In November 2002, Brake Storm made their debut concert with Maxime on guitar, Alexandre on bass, and Kevin Boilard on drums. Kevin was a school friend who agreed to join the band as the drummer and was a key component in shaping the identity of Brake Storm. In January 2003, Benoit Lamontagne joined the band as rhythm guitarist and vocalist after passing an audition. They performed several shows together, but Benoit was eventually let go in late August 2003. Alexandre then stepped in as the temporary rhythm guitarist and vocalist. In early 2004, Brake Storm found a new rhythm guitarist, Julien Bisson, but he did not participate in the recording of their first demo EP, "The Devil Over Fire," which was recorded in March and featured Alexandre on bass, guitar on some tracks, and vocals. In 2005, Kevin Boilard left the band and Alexandre Bergeron took over on drums until the end of Brake Storm. The final lineup consisted of Maxime on lead guitar, Alexandre on rhythm guitar and vocals, and Alexandre Bergeron on drums.
