Alexander Klaws won the first edition of "Deutschland Sucht Den Superstar" ("DSDS"), the German version of "Pop Idol" / "American Idol" on RTL and released its debut album "Take Your Chance" in 2003 under his first name only. The debut album span several chart hits, produced by Dieter Bohlen (of "Modern Talking" fame), who was also one of the judges on DSDS. In 2004 his sophomore album "Here I Am" followed, also produced by Dieter Bohlen and once again resulting in several chart hits, before Alexander decided to end the working relationship with Dieter Bohlen. Instead of the Bohlen-typical mainstream pop is his third album relased in 2006 under the title "Attention!" featured some rock influences. While doing OK business it was a often seen as a disappointment after the chart success of his two prior releases. He then turned to the world of stage musicals and stared in the Berlin production of "Tanz der Vampire" ("Dance of the Vampires", featuring music by Jim Steinmann).
