Equiped with both an accoustic guitar and accoustic lap-steel slide guitar, Alesa conjures a magical language that draws on the complex ornamentation of traditional Scottish and Irish bagpipe and fiddle tunes, blues, and the music of Eastern Europe.
Alesa grew up in Southern Queensland, Australia, where she attended the Brisbane Independant School. From an early age, she showed promise in Visual Art, Dance and Music. As a youngster, she studied the Middle Eastern dance discipline of Raks Sharki performing with a dance troupe at multicultural events. At 16 she took up guitar, inspired by some of the outstanding performers she had witnessed at World and Folk Music Festivals in Australia.
With fierce determination Alesa threw herself into every inspiring style of music she came by. Hence, It was only a matter of time before Alesa began performing alongside the same artists that were her early inpirations. She has appeared in concerts with Scottish guitar virtuoso Tony McManus, Aria Award winning artist Jeff Lang and ABC Radio National Presenter Lucky Oceans to name but a few. Today, she enjoys performing in a wide range of concert scenarios, ranging from Parliament House to Australian and International folk festivals. Read more on Last.fm.
