Thousands of miles away from where rock was born, a dynamic female singer of Nepalese origin known as Abhaya Subba from the hills of the Darjeeling sought to bring Kathmandu city the magic that rock inspires. With her overpowering love for music, she decided to form a band together along with other four music enthusiasts by the name of "Abhaya & The Steam Injuns". As her native place “Darjeeling" has always been famous for the Darjeeling Himalayan Railways, it was the very tiny steam engines that still chugs around the misty blue hills of "Darjeeling" which motivated founding bandmember Abhaya to name her band that she fronts as the "Steam Injuns”. And thereafter, their journey into the Nepali music scene started since January, 2003.
