„Jendrin škrilak“ (Andrew's Hat -in kajkavian dialect) is an ethno-music band from Đurđevac. It was established in 2000. In its quest for the archaic sound, the band found its roots and inspiration in the old chants of Podravina and Međimurje region. This local sound is skillfully intertwined with the old Celtic motifs and the exotic rhythms of the East. From the beginning, „Jendrin škrilak“ was meant as a music at short notice, so the shows have followed in such intensity. Many years of playing together brought the members to the firm cohesion, so in 2007 the band decided to record the studio album. Their first-born, „Jendrin škrilak i gosti" („Andrew's Hat and the Guests“) was taken under the wing of the leading Croatian discographic company - Croatia Records, which released the album under the sub-label of Croatian Roots Music. Approximately thirty musicians participated on the creation of the album, some of them being famous Croatian artists: Zlatko Vitez, Vid Balog, Renata Sabljak,Mirko Švenda - Žiga, Stjepan Večković and Arsen Dedić. Mr. Dedić sang the song „Dravske sirene“ („The Sirens of the Drava River“). Marko Dimić directed the video for that song. Materials for the album was recorded in „Mandrak“ studio, in Đurđevac, in 2007. From the very beginning, the band „Jendrin škrilak“ put a demanding task in front of them. They wants to bring back the authentic music instruments of Podravina region to the place where they once belonged and where their sound was once heard. The band strive to cherish such music and keep it out of falling into oblivion. Read more on Last.fm.
