Burning spirits is a subgenre of hardcore punk that emerged from the Japanese hardcore scene. It is characterized by fast, crust punk-like instrumentation and vocals, but usually with the combination of an “uplifting” or “triumphant” sound, often infusing NWOBHM-adjacent guitar solos and an all-around heavy metal influence.
